Seville: The electric bike rental service has been approved

Seville City Council, has approved the technical bases for the selection of two collaborating companies which will run a pilot test for the electric bicycle exploitation service.

The determined time will be 18 months, and the maximum number of bicycles with which it will operate during this period will be 2.000 (thousand for each company).

“With the launch of these processes, We want to check the city's capacity to assimilate these new modes of mobility, such as electric scooters and electric bicycles, before proceeding to authorize possible operating companies.”.

For the analysis of the ideal places to enable the parking of electric bikes, the following criteria have been considered:

Support in the existing bicycle parking infrastructure. A majority of the parking lots will be located in continuity whenever it is feasible and new specific places will be enabled where previously there were no bike racks or Sevici stations.. And in no case can they be placed when it affects pedestrian accessibility.
Support for public building environments, endowments and infrastructures, enabling parking spaces for those who can demand greater cyclist mobility and promote intermodality.
They will not be able to park in the spaces of special patrimonial affection, especially in the surroundings of certain buildings declared BIC, among them the scope of the Cathedral-Royal Alcázar-Archive of the Indies, and in pedestrian areas such as the axis of Avenida de la Constitución and Calle San Fernando, the commercial areas of the historic center, the neighborhood of Santa Cruz, San Jacinto street..
