Have you ever noticed had the shield of Santander or Laredo? In both we see the Tower of Gold in Seville, and it has its origin in the Reconquest.

In 1248,Cantabrian ships headed for Sevilla to recover from the Muslim domain. There, They broke the chains that bound Triana with the rest of the city and prevented the passage through the river Guadalquivir, being the moment represented in both shields. So, we can see the Tower of Gold, Cantabrian ships and chains.

During the reign of Ferdinand III of Castile were reconquered, besides Sevilla, the cities of Córdoba, Jaen and Murcia; under control leaving only Muslim to Malaga, Granada, Cádiz, Huelva and Almería.
