A danced romance novel about the unfortunate relationship between a courtesan and a young heir. Based on the iconic book by Alexandre Dumas Jr., the choreographer John Neumeier builds an atmospheric ballet that transports us to eight-century Paris, through the music of Frédéric Chopin. The famous dancer Marcia Haydée of the Sttugart Ballet plays Marguerite Gautier, the unfortunate courtesan, and Ivan Liska, a Armand Duval, the young heir who falls in love with her, despite victorian conventions.
