Tourist visit

The tourist visit to the Archivo General de Indias is free, facilitating access to the historic area from Tuesday to Sunday, except for days 1 and 6 January, Holy Thursday, Friday and 24, 25 and 31 December.

Schedule

Tuesday to Saturday: of 9:30 a 17:00.Domingos y festivos: of 10:00 a 14:00.

No need to request appointment, except above groups 20 people.

The exhibition "Flavors that crossed the oceans" comes to Spain from the Philippines. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation through the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (aecidia), It is displayed in the General Archive of the Indies in Seville, thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which adds as organizer of this event. This is his sixth seat, after passing through Manila, Cádiz, Huelva, Valladolid and Malaga.

This exhibition illustrates the impact of the arrival of the Spaniards in the Philippines and the radical change in eating habits in the Philippines and the rest of the world as a result of increased trade between Asia, America and Europe, led by Spain and path called "Manila Galleon".

quality reproductions facsimiles that are primary sources chosen from the huge and exceptional documentary heritage preserved in the General Archive of the Indies in Seville shown, the Royal Botanic Gardens, the National Library of Spain and other Spanish and foreign institutions. The sample also incorporates a set of informative texts, graphic resources and teaching aids that encourage visitors to discover a part of our history, common to Spain, Philippines and other nations that once were united under the Spanish crown.

It is not only a scholarly approach to this subject, although not waived the historical rigor, as a multidisciplinary approach offers, in which the historical study and haute cuisine go hand in hand and encourage the viewer to experience the flavors and foods of the past.
