ScheduleTuesday to Saturday 09:00 a 21:00; Sundays and holidays 09:00 a 15:00. Open all holidays even local.

Closed 1 and 6 January, 1 May 24, 25 and 31 December. Closed on Mondays, except Monday before holidays (open with festive schedule).

 

Entrance: Price 1,50 euros. Free: for citizens of the European Union accredited and members of ICOM.

 

The Minister of Culture of the Andalusian, Miguel Angel Vazquez, and the mayor of Seville, Juan Espadas, have presented on Wednesday the exhibition "Murillo. IV Centenary ', the first retrospective exhibition dedicated to the Sevillian painter in his hometown, and can be seen at the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville (PERHAPS) between 29 November and 17 March 2019.

according to Vázquez, It is "the largest exhibition of Murillo that was to be held or has been held in Spain" and, thanks to her, we will be able to see in Seville "the highest concentration of Murillos that we never could have imagined".

"This exhibition will allow us to know the truth about the Sevillian painter, one of the masterpieces of the Spanish Baroque figures and pictorial school Seville, and we will give a comprehensive overview of Murillo, a clear vision along the entire path and show us the different thematic ", He said Vazquez.

In this regard, He has stressed that the exhibition will disassemble certain simplistic prejudices about Murillo, "What is it much more than 'the painter of the Immaculate' or a painter of religious subjects, because with his style and his proposals, He marked a milestone in the history of Spanish painting, Sevilla projecting his art from the whole of Europe ".

On the contrary, the exhibition of fine arts and contemporary art will present the City Council in a few days, 'Application Murillo. Curated by Ignacio Cano Muñoz and Valme, director of the Pinacoteca, the exhibition of Fine Arts is composed of 55 canvases, including three of the museum itself and others from countries like England, France, Germany, Mexico and the US, provided by private collections and institutions, Spanish and foreign, as the Tate Gallery in London, the Prado Museum, the Louvre in Paris and the New York MET. These pieces are added to the 17 Exposure of the Capuchins which can still be seen in the Museum Room V, so will be total 72 Murillo works gathered in the same space.

The Minister of Culture has also stressed that "many of these pieces have long been out of Sevilla and outside Spain, since they left when they were despoiled, and that's another reason for satisfaction ". Last, Vazquez thanked and congratulated all "qualified" the museum team for the "commendable and exemplary" work with this exhibition and the events of the Year Murillo.
