Didier Lockwood feat Antonio Farao’ Trio

The French violinist Didier Lockwood is a prestigious jazz soloist and composer.

Although initially from a classical music education, to 16 years went on to study at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris discovering other music and entering the field of free improvisation. Having heard the virtuoso Jean-Luc Ponty was introduced in the use of amplified violin and 1974 It is integrated into the jazz-rock group Magma, despite having to lose it a place in the Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, with whom he will touch up 1978. Later he will be playing in the band fusion Christian Vander and Jannick Top.

To the 21 years is discovered by Stéphane Grappelli and immersed in the world of jazz (also influenced by this dedication to his brother, with which it will also touch). Through numerous concerts in various jazz festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (acts 1975 and 1978), Castellet (1976), Antibes or Donaueschingen Festival (1978), It is becoming known internationally, therefore their pariciones within the group of jazz / rock fusion Surya as their individual contributions, for example with self Stéphane Grappelli.

He has worked with many prestigious musicians like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, Dave Brubeck, Strange or Mike Stern, inter alia.

Having taken part in more than 3.000 concerts and over 30 own albums, the last years is more dedicated to the composition. ANTONIO FARAO’

It is considered one of the best jazz pianists in the international press.

Born in Rome in 1965, Antonio FARAO attended classical training course with Adriano Della Giustina and Riccardo Risaliti Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. A teenager has stood out for his talent by participating in international festivals Umbria Jazz, Estival Jazz Lugano, Maastricht, Tel Aviv, North Sea… inter alia.

He has received several awards : New Talent Award in Musical Review 1987, Four Roses prize as a pianist of the year 1991, First Martial Solal Award in Paris.

He regularly collaborates with internationally known names such as Jack DeJohnette, Birelių Lagrène, Didier Lockwood, Joe Lovano, Benny Golson, Lenny White… among many others.
